Well, it seems as if my MC, Aislin learned a lot from her mentor and also has a lot in common. The Muttering. Yes, her mentor mutters to herself, mostly about if she remembered to do something- she has OCD! Aislin has that plus short-term memory loss, so the muttering comes naturally.
The mentor, Whom I haven't a name for yet, feels that talking aloud helps one to focus. She tells Aislin, “pretend you are talking to (antagonist) what would you say to him? her? What is it that you need to do today? What problem do you need to solve? Ask yourself questions and puzzle it out in your head until you arrive at a solution, and then write down your thoughts.
So if you see me with a blank look on my face, or muttering something, just know that I am okay, I am just having a conversation in my head about what the next step or plan is.”
