As a student, I have had many memorable school teachers and experiences thus far. What is the best advice you have ever gotten from a dean or teacher? Tell the group how you take this advice into consideration while writing or within your daily life

My best advice was to slow down. I tend to jump too quickly into the rising action so I've learned to save the descriptions for the second or third draft, where I know I'll have finished "the fun parts" already.
The best writing advice I have received was sometimes too much detail, even if it's good detail, is too much. I have been told many times when I was younger to be more succinct in my descriptions (and have I listened, well, not always! What can I say, I LOVE detail). I have slowly been learning that brevity is better sometimes, especially if you want your readers to understand what the heck you are saying. (side note- sorry for the long post, hope it makes some sense.)
