Books with killer plot-twists are ones I re-read. I like finding “bread crumbs” I hadn’t previously noticed being dropped. Some of my favorites happen when the reader is distracted by action or emotion. Where do you hide your “bread crumbs” when writing? What plot-twists have left you most surprised?

My editing phase is always more adding than taking away, no matter how many times I've gone through the project. I tend to build my pieces in layers so I'll have a whole round of edits dedicated to hiding those little nuggets of foreshadowing.
Yes, writing in layers! My first draft is always somewhat word-vomit so I can get my ideas out. Then I go back through again and again to tidy things. Sometimes it’s hard for me to know where to drop “bread crumbs” before I know where they lead.
Sometimes I fall into a perpetual edit and then the story is never finished. :(
