Phoenix is my all-time favorite band hands down. I often find myself trying to incorporate their music into my writing, whether it's part of the setting or a character trait. What is a song or band you tried to incorporate in your writing, and how did you do it?

I love Phoenix! Usually when I'm writing I like to listen to music that's heavily instrumental and doesn't focus too much on the lyrics. One of my favorite artists I like to listen to when I'm writing is Cortex. Cortex is a French funk band from the 70s and I love their vocalizations and the complex layering of their music. I strive to emulate the feeling I get when I listen to them in everything that I write- a feeling of deep introspection.
Oh man, this is a really interesting question! I've always been a fan of the band Daughter, and I find that a lot of their music (which is pretty melancholy) fits pretty well into the general mood of a lot of what a write. Another favorite artist of mine is Dodie. She has a lot more upbeat yet chill music that I like to listen to when I'm writing happier or lighter pieces.
I tried to incorporate Kesha's album Rainbow into a nonfiction piece I was working on. I took lyrics from her song and those became the theme or the chapter title of each section.
I incorporate music into a lot of my writing. I wrote a poem with lyrics from "Reminiscing" by Little River Band, with two stanzas holding lyrics. I used these and wrote my own personal experience with the song. I have also written a poem using "Cigarette Daydreams" by Cage the Elephant where I started every stanza with a line of lyrics. Another piece I wrote was called "Whiskey Stains" and is one of my favorite pieces I've written. In the creative nonfiction piece I use short lyrics from "Drowning Man" by Eric Church, "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith, and "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Whenever I use lyrics in my pieces I put the song title and artist at the end of the piece.
