Rupi Kaur is probably the most famous InstaPoet of our time. I started a poetry account on Instagram two weeks ago and am trying to see why and how Instagram can make poetry popular among readers. What do you do to build your presence as a writer/poet on social media?

I actually haven't quite made the leap over to social media for my writing and poetry. However, most of the writers and poets that I know who are actively sharing their work on social media tend to use Instagram posts (ESPECIALLY Instagram Stories) and link them to larger websites/blogs.
I really have trouble with this! I have a link to my book in my Instagram bio, and I sometimes caption posts with poems, but I don't really know how else to build a presence
I've dabbled with my own writing account and one thing that helps get views and likes are hashtags. If you switch your account to a business account it will show you how many people have interacted with the post and how many people it's "reached," which is a good tool to see how far your posts are going. For the posts, I mostly use quotes from my pieces or photos with a journal to show that I'm writing. Try using Canva to get some good templates!
LOL I talk shit on Twitter and hope that brings other people/friends to me. I have a blog where I write stuff and a book review site, but that's about it. What is your insta so we can all follow??
For sure its consistency, aesthetics, and its short versed. I remember her when she wasn't very popular...and she grew overtime. So don't give up and don't stop...keep posting. Can we see your instagram perhaps we can give better advice. Good luck!
