Founded in 2014 with just 44 members, The Writer's Workout is now global with members in more than twenty countries across six continents. Administrative Assistant

Administrative

The Writer's Workout is seeking an administrative assistant to provide support in the production and maintenance of the Writer's Workout community.

This position reports to Cindy McWilliams and Theresa Green. 

DUTIES:

  • Manages meeting schedule for Executive Director and Human Resources.

  • Assists in the back-end production of The Writer's Games.

  • Maintains complete schedule of all community events by department.

  • Various office-related tasks as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, college/university preferred.

  • Familiarity with GSuite required.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), about 10-15 hours per month.

Grant Writer

The Writer's Workout is seeking an experienced grant writer to obtain funding for a global education organization for literacy through creative writing. 

This position reports to Cindy McWilliams and Theresa Green.

DUTIES:

  • Researches grant writing opportunities for educational organizations.

  • Writes grants and secures funding for The Writer's Workout.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous grant writing experience a must.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), about 10 hours per month.

Internship Coordinator

Administrative

The Writer's Workout is seeking an organized, literacy-oriented individual to work with colleges and universities to foster learning and develop the Writer's Workout Internship.

This position reports to Cindy McWilliams and Theresa Green.

DUTIES:

  • Ensures compliance of interns to internship parameters.

  • Works with all departments to monitor and document progress.

  • Cultivates lasting relationships with colleges and universities around the world.

  • Works with all departments to develop and maintain internship training programs. 

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional organizational skills a must.

  • Successful completion of The Writer's Workout internship program is required.

  • Deep understanding of professional and technical writing required. 

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with Wix a major plus. 

  • Educational blogging experience a plus.

  • Self-starter.

The Writer's Workout is seeking a literacy-minded educator to manage and develop monthly competitions with a goal of personal growth.

DUTIES:

  • Works with Social Media and Education to develop inspiring monthly challenges across a range of genres.

  • Encourages personal growth in writers around the world. 

  • Researches writing best practices and trends.

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deadline oriented.

    • Experience with GSuite a plus.

  • Degree in Creative Writing strongly preferred.

    • Degree in progress is accepted when accompanied with successful completion of WW internship program. ​

  • Works with Brand Curator and Community Liaison to maintain RSS feed.

  • Works with Education team to publish educational content to website in easily accessible and inviting format.

  • Works closely with the Executive Director to produce The Writer's Games.

  • Works with Community Liaison and Director of Social Media to promote and maintain an inviting and motivating environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, college/university preferred.

  • JavaScript AND CSS preferred.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), about 10-15 hours per month.
