Please understand that all positions with The Writer's Workout are considered "spare time" with room to grow. An estimate is provided. Each position is volunteer until funding is available. Applicants must have a strong desire to help other writers improve.

Founded in 2014 with just 44 members, The Writer's Workout is now global with members in more than twenty countries across six continents. We strive to provide a motivating atmosphere that fosters self-growth and development through encouraging language and education. We want to help you be a better writer.

 

Grant Writer

Administrative

The Writer's Workout seeks an experienced grant writer to obtain funding for a global education organization for literacy through creative writing. This position is commission-based.

This position reports to Cindy McWilliams and Theresa Green.

DUTIES:

  • Researches grant writing opportunities for educational organizations.

  • Writes grants and secures funding for The Writer's Workout.

  • Previous grant writing experience a must.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

Associate Internship Coordinator

Administrative

​The Writer's Workout seeks an organized, literacy-oriented individual to work with colleges and universities to foster learning and develop the Writer's Workout Internship.

This position reports to Bella Ligenza.

DUTIES:

  • Ensures compliance of interns to internship parameters.

  • Works with all departments to monitor and document progress.

  • Cultivates lasting relationships with colleges and universities around the world.

  • Works with all departments to develop and maintain internship training programs. 

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional organizational skills a must.

  • Successful completion of The Writer's Workout internship program is required.

  • Deep understanding of professional and technical writing required. 

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), estimate varies depending on Games and Internship schedule.

Account Manager

This position reports to Sarah Perchikoff.

DUTIES:

  • B2B communications with affiliates and sponsors.

  • Research potential affiliates and sponsors.

  • Works with all departments to promote community activities and events.

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B2B communications experience required.

  • Marketing experience a plus, but not required.

  • Social Media marketing best practices a plus.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), about 5-7 hours per month.

DUTIES:

  • Creates shareable images that are on-message and brand-centric.

  • Ensures brand recognition.

  • Creates cover images for anthologies and other publications.

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional organizational skills required.

    • Graphic design degree a plus.

    • Familiarity with KDP a plus. 

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), around 5-10 hours a month.

  • Works with all departments to promote community activities and events.

  • Creates accessible visuals.

  • Works with Education department to develop activities and workshops to increase visibility and engagement.

  • Fosters a motivating environment and encourages participation/discussion about topics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Marketing experience a plus, but not required.

  • Social Media marketing best practices a must.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

Education

The Writer's Workout seeks community-oriented writers to liaise with industry professionals and external communities to grow the Writer's Workout community around the world.

This position reports to Amy Hickman. 

DUTIES:

  • Cultivates relationships with writing communities and organizations to grow the WW family.

  • Works closely with Education on research and development.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, college/university preferred.

  • B2B communications experience preferred.

  • Self-starter.

Full Stack Developer

​The Writer's Workout seeks an experienced web developer to maintain both back-end and front-end materials for this website.

This position reports to Theresa Green.

DUTIES:

  • Creates and maintains website for The Writer's Workout.

  • Works with Education team to publish educational content to website in easily accessible and inviting format.

  • Works closely with the Executive Director to produce The Writer's Games.

  • Works with Community Liaison and Director of Social Media to promote and maintain an inviting and motivating environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, college/university preferred.

  • JavaScript AND CSS preferred.

  • Self-starter.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout.

  • Must be willing to donate time initially (until funding is available), about 10-15 hours per month.
