Hello! Jennifer Martin here! I'm a budding short story writer and a new volunteer at The Writer's Workout as well as a recent graduate. I have learned that breaking into the literary world can be daunting feat and so I am taking every opportunity to meet new and interesting people in the literary community, like today's guest Marilynn Vicente.
Persevering through her struggles with Dyslexia, Marilynn's imagination combined with her passion for writing has resulted in a successful writing career beginning with her sci-fi fantasy novel Annaecy. Make sure to check out their website and socials, which are linked below, so you don't miss out on any of their future work. I was very pleased with the opportunity to meet Marilynn. I know you will be too.

Hi Marilynn! Thanks so much for meeting with me today. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
One of the college classes that I had to take in 2011 was a creative writing course. The writing teacher assigned a one sentence assignment. I remember being nervous that day since I had to read that one sentence out loud.
The teacher then suggested that I should start writing. Because one day I'll be a famous writer.
Haha I don't know about the being famous part. As soon as I got home, I wrote the fantasy part of Annaecy. The science fiction portion was later added in 2020 after numerous drafts, many endings, and writers block. By 2023, I was writing the last chapter, and by 2024, I released Annaecy on April 19.
Tell us about your writing style.
My debut novel is called ANNAECY and it is a young adult, science fiction and fantasy novel. The recommended reading age is 13+.
Tell us about a project you’re proud of and link it.

Artificial military enforcements haven taken over the planet of Annaecy. They have created an environment of their own, and with their advanced technology and strict set of rules, they soon build a regime of intelligent Al species. It is now the year CR-90. Crimson, a young Al, has failed her military training despite doing exceedingly well on her human studies. Little does she know, a real human named Dexter will soon crash land on her planet. Crimson’s new mission is to return Dexter back home. On their journey, they both get sucked onto another planet, throwing them well into the past. Crimson soon discovers the dark secrets her family has been hiding.
