Indie Author Spotlight, Episode 36
Hello! Jennifer Martin here! I'm a budding short story writer, a volunteer at The Writer's Workout as well as a recent graduate. I have learned that breaking into the literary world can be daunting feat and so I am taking every opportunity to meet new and interesting people in the literary community, like today's guest Megan Pasonick.
Megan is just at the beginning of her publishing journey after independently self-publishing her first children's book, Kimmy Goes Camping. Determined and passionate Megan hopes to ignite the love of reading in children that was so strong in her during her early stages of life and uncovered once again later in life. Make sure to check out their website and socials, which are linked below, so you don't miss out on any of their future work. I was very pleased with the opportunity to meet Megan. I know you will be too.
Hi Megan! Thanks so much for meeting with me today. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hello! I was born in Milwaukee, WI, and have many fond memories of my childhood in Wisconsin. It is where I started reading, wrote my first book, and fell in love with books. Lots of books! I still love to visit in the summer; if you haven’t been, you are sure missing out! My family also lived in Newnan, GA, were I attended middle school and the beginning of high school. I finished high school in Porterville, CA, so you can see, I became used to meeting new people. But, in between sports, school and dreaming of the future, I always had my books.
Tell us about your writing style.
I have no formal writing education, I just grew up wanting to be a children’s book author. I wanted to write stories that meant something to the children reading them and maybe help other to fall in love with reading. I loved reading about exotic places and imagining myself there.
Tell us about a project you’re proud of and link it.
My first published book Kimmy Goes Camping is for ages 5 – 8. I plan to create a series with this character, Kimmy, who is based on me as a child. You can find it on Barnes and Nobles online, Amazon or head to my current webpage www.authorMeganPasonick.com or socials.
Spill the tea, what are you currently working on?
This series is in various stages of progress. All of the stories are based on trips/experiences I, myself, took as a child. The ideas are plentiful and I look forward to the day when I can publish more. Anybody looking for a new author to sign?!

What is your biggest/best piece of advice for other Indie Authors?
The biggest piece of advice I have for Indie Authors is to remember what drew you to writing in the first place. For me, that is creating stories to bring joy to kids. When I read my story and see a child smile, or laugh, that is really all that matters! Also, it is never too late. I rediscovered my dream of publishing my book in my mid forties, so I took quite a detour from that first draft in crayons! The process has filled me with the joy and accomplishment, and reignited the excitement of childhood.
Where can someone find your work, social presence, etc. drop some links.
